Woof Pack Pet Services offers dog and puppy training classes at our Boone, NC dog training facility. Owner Melissa Hemmings Helms is a graduate of Animal Behavior College where she earned her certification as an ABC Certified Dog Trainer.

Animal Behavior College (ABC) is approved by the Bureau for Private Post secondary and Vocational Education and is an internationally recognized school.  Her year-long commitment to this program has provided her with a formal education in canine obedience training and understanding behavior and its motives.

Her certification, education, and experience provide her the skills required to effectively and humanely train your dog while keeping alive the spark that makes your dog so special to you.

Human handlers are required to be present during all classes. Classes are $275.00 and include a Preview Day for our Boarding and Daycare Program. 

Our dog training classes take place in Boone, NC at our indoor facility at 410 Appaloosa Trail.

We use positive reinforcement in our classes. No prong, choke, or shock collars of any kind are permitted. 

Up-to-date vaccinations are required for all services. Please note that this schedule may change in the event of inclement weather. Class fees are nonrefundable two weeks prior to the start date.

2024 Summer Schedule

Mondays – FIVE WEEK CLASSES

 July 15th – August 12th

Sports Sampler Class (Five Week Class) 1:00 pm CLASS FULL

Not sure which class is your next step?  Try the Sports Sampler Class!  The focus of this class is to provide a brief introduction to different classes for which you and your dog may be interested.  This class strengthens the relationship between owner and dog by providing an avenue for continued training that is intriguing.  You and your dog will be introduced to Agility, Rally, Nosework, Tricks, and Parkour concepts and activities.  Join the class, see what interests your dog, and most of all – have fun with it!

Canine Good Citizen/ Therapy Dog Preparation Class 2:15 ( Five Week Class)  CLASS FULL

The focus of this class is on strengthening the relationship between owner and dog by increasing communication skills.   Positive reinforcement techniques are applied toward Canine Good Citizen goals.   Dogs learn to sit-stay, down-stay, come when called, walk on a loose leash, calmly greet a person, and calmly pass by another dog.  Problem-behavior trouble-shooting and active, participatory classes.  This is a good follow-up class to a AKC STAR Puppy or Super Dog classes. The Canine Good Citizen test is given as the last class and is included in the price of the class. Optional therapy dog evaluations are given at the end of this course. Dogs must be at least one year old to take this class. 

Tuesdays July 16th – August 13th

Trick Dog Class 11:00 AM ( Five Week Classes) CLASS FULL

Does your dog love learning new tricks and skills? Our Trick Dog class is a great option for mental enrichment & confidence building. Some tricks can also be useful in real life – such as fetching your slippers from the closet, or putting  your recycling in the bin.

Your dog can learn tricks like: 

  • Play dead 
  • Roll over 
  • Peek-a-boo
  • Item retrieval (hold & drop)
  • Paws up
  • Leg weaves
  • And more!

Wednesdays Six Week Classes July 10th – August 14th

Canine Coffee Club 10:30 AM  CLASS FULL

Interested in our Hound Around Town class, but not sure you and your dog are ready for the real world just yet? Practice working with your dog in a cafe like setting in our training center first. We will serve coffee/ tea/ pastries while you set up with your dog giving them as much space  from distractions as they need. Different folks will drop in during each class and interact with the dogs.  As the class progresses we will close in the distance between dogs and finish up at an actual coffee shop!

 
STAR PUPPY – 5:00 PM  ( SIX WEEK CLASSES) CLASS FULL
 

STAR PUPPY is the beginner puppy program for puppies (up to 9 months) who want to get a head start on their Canine Good Citizen skills and work through puppy behaviors and improve socialization skills.  At the end of class puppy will be tested to be enrolled in the AKC S.T.A.R program

Super Dog 6:15 (Six Week Class) CLASS FULL

This class curriculum is for older puppies and dogs of any age focusing on learning 12 basic commands with distraction and proper leash walking who have not had any prior training classes.

Thursdays July 11th- August 15th

AKC STAR PUPPY – 11:00 AM (SIX WEEK CLASS)  CLASS FULL

STAR PUPPY Program is for puppies (up to 1 year) who want to get a head start on their Canine Good Citizen skills and work through puppy behaviors and improve socialization skills.  At end of puppy will be tested to be enrolled in the AKC S.T.A.R program
 

Rally Obedience 2:00 PM  and 3:15 ( Five Week Classes) BOTH CLASSES FULL

Rally obedience is a fun, fast paced dog sport based off of traditional competition obedience. The judging is not as rigorous as competition obedience and teamwork between the dog and handler are the main focus.  Dog/handler teams navigate stations indicated by a signs along the course.  In this course we will introduce you to the basic positions, equipment, signs, and their meanings needed to be ready for Rally Novice.
